Jerusalem is usually told through stories of kings, generals, rabbis and emperors. But across its thousands of years of history, extraordinary women shaped the city in surprising ways: queens, princesses, women of faith, entrepreneurs and fighters.
On this tour we meet Golda Meir, Judith Montefiore, Bubba Kreshe Berman, Mariamne the Hasmonean, Mary Magdalene, Helena, Berenice, Shlomtzion the Queen, Esther Cailingold, Huldah the Prophetess and Franziska Baruch.
This is an interactive tour built like a historical clue game: at every stop you get another clue: a picture, an object, a surprising detail, and you try to work out for yourself which woman is hiding behind the story.
We move through Jerusalem's periods and places, from the Second Temple era, through Roman and Christian Jerusalem, and up to the twentieth century, and uncover stories of love, power, faith, politics, courage, creation and survival.
It is a beautiful and unique way to discover Jerusalem: through the women who left their mark.
About 3 hours, Teddy Park to Jaffa Gate. English or Hebrew. Private groups, and occasional scheduled evenings.
